Poems in Progress II

I Found Happiness in a Shopping Mall
I saw graceful endeavors dazzle my eyes these agglutinous yellows illuminating the scene chef-

d’oeuvre I christened the sensation knowing nothing better throwing ill-gotten gains gainst a

Commodity

All that Remains is Desert
All that remains is desert:
After the forests are deflowered
And once moist rivers left dry
All these children dying by the hour
And all their prophets fly, fly, fly

All that remains is dirt:
After the planet’s been nuked
And plentiful greenery brown
All the beauty hastily ravished
And a glimmer of hope down, down, down

All that remains is dust:
After the ashes become ashes
And the golden idols lose all base
All the bloom transverse to gloom
And the grey vultures taste, taste, taste

All that remains is death:
After the bodies cringe and rot
And the philosophies change
All their pastures breathe no life
And the mind feels strange, strange, strange

All that remains is desert:
After the politicians have won
And the businessmen leave happy
All the meek workers fade to grey

And my heart remains sappy, sappy, sappy

Nuts
Salty goodness
            Fingers licked
Meat absent
            No matter
Protein abides
            Poor man
Not a
            Dollar to
His name
            For leisurely
Spending
            Though
Stomach
            Happy
Heart
            Mending
Nonetheless
            Wonders
What could have been
            If only,
If only
Time would
            Heal
Everything
But only so much
Munching on nuts

Reincarnation
The baleful curtain drawn
Nubile native
Roses, violets and thorns
Tarnish the white dress
Her engagement
The curmudgeon elder
Offering wealth immense

She opens her heart
He spreads her legs
Plants a sneaky seed

The prodigal son born
Recalcitrant ragamuffin
Toiling away her life
So she wastes time
Slaving in the scullery
Drawing pictures on the wall
Slitting wrists with

Kitchen knives
She braises the chicken
New-Life chides her being

Magic and Dungeons
Elementals unbound
Down a corridor o’ mist
Summon a fireball
Soak the fertile earth

            Phantasms lurk
            Past a golden gate
            Draw a dagger
            Inflate dust

                                    Warlocks present
                                    At a trashy bar
                                    Pick up the tab
                                    Drink alone

There is some money I owe
                                                Taxes and loans are due
                                                You can call me Thoreau
To funding war I say adieu

That Other Thing I was Talking About
I don’t drink for the fun of it
Sure,
I did as a boy in those collegiate years
Throwing back Natty Ices
Cold
Chugging shots of tequila
Salted
Shouting obscenities at
Tails
Not a glance my way
Nothing a cone and
War games couldn’t solve
Sometimes chicken wings
A quick wank in shower
Did the trick

Of course
I drink excessively
For simple joy
To this very day
But that is aside the point
Diverging the mark

What was I talking about?
Takes another sip

Right,
Back on track:
A dark and stormy night
Middle of a cornfield
No soul in sight
Standing there, fix in hand
Grey nowhere, kick a can
Alternating sips; standing guard
Cursing nips; landing star
Looking for some answer
I slept there and time passed

22nd Hour
She brings fermented juice
A moment of sobriety
When I plunge
She takes control
Afret
Aflesh
Afresh

Poetry in Progress `I

Unconditional Lust
I could flip a coin a thousand times-
In different places
And alternating positions
Taking precise aim
Every time
Even being sloppy
In rhyme:
My rhythm, too
-And still
I only come up
With tails
When all I want

Is head.

Twitch
Rummaging pages burnt from the
Ashes.
Irritated fingers ravaging my dry
Skin.
Flakes trickle off the brittle
Hairs.
Eyesight flickering in and our subtle
Waves.
Smokes fills the scene aroma of
Poison.
I choke first, enjoy, then commences
Gasping.
Phlegm collects atop immediately discarded
Away.
There are thoughts better left
Unattended.
Movies dazzle the screen: one last
Hope.
There are thought better left
Forgotten.
Oh how sweet it was: that fresh
Air

Everything
I used to
Believe
Everything happened
For some reason,
But now
I know
Everything happen
And we must find
A
Reason
To keep
Happening

23rd Hour
Time for her to leave
The moment I rest
When I awaken
She returns again
Anew
Alight
Again

Pray-er
Forgive me this time
It won’t be the last

Game of Cat is Mouse
Cage: gorgeous interior
Walls glimmering
Running claws through
Sublime decoration
Resenting an outside world
Afar Plato’s cavern
Another reality carries on
Past the window, no way
Submersing herself in the
Luscious scenery, divine
So she takes her mouth
Gorging a dry feast
Processed chunks, on sale
Sleeping casually, any chance
Given

Drew Kow-Ski
Another day:
Toiling round on nicotine and
Booze
Stroking the pussy’s firm
White hairs, softly
She purrs sweetened silence
I pour succulent serenity
The glass mostly
Full
The mind fully
Empty
The walls quietly
Dim
The Lights faintly
Receding
Another tune, another time
Remains the same
Drowning sore effigy
Diminishing further cost
Demanding security
Where none existed
Previously
